The monitor tech shall be responsible for assisting in the care of patients by continual observation of any patient on a cardiac monitor, under the direction of an RN or LPN.


Essential Functions
1) Deliver quality assistance by offering excellent customer service. Must maintain a positive and professional attitude when interacting with patients, visitors, and staff.
2) Participate within a team centered approach to provide excellent patient care and improve patient satisfaction and HCAHPS scores.
3) Demonstrate competency in identifying dysrhythmias and notifying appropriate staff member in a timely manner. 
4) Accurately document monitor rhythms in electronic medical record.
5) Communicate census, unstable patients, lost tele boxes, and communication issues to the ICU charge nurse.
6) Thoroughly clean and inspect equipment as it is returned to the department. Issue tele boxes as appropriate.
7) Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy practices in accordance with HIPAA. Complete annual competency and safety training as assigned.
8) Other tasks as delegated by the ICU Charge Nurse or Director

Education:
Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent and exhibit proficiency in patient care and oral communication skills.

Technical/Formal Training:
Must obtain and maintain a current certification in BLS CPR.    Must maintain any other requirements for each specific department.   Must complete required departmental competencies and maintain through annual review. 

Knowledge/ Skill/Abilities:
Must be able to follow directions and perform work according to department standards under the supervision of an RN/LPN.  Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.

Experience: 
At least one year of experience as a monitor tech preferred.
